Well, to be honest, this is more of creative/challenge-giveaway.
Ah, the world of Captain Nemo, 20,000 leagues under the sea. Among the kelp and barnacle encrusted rocks, are the ruins of great schooners, clippers and windjammers. Underwater cities built from forgotten civilizations, fallen to weather and waves. And heaps of fantastic treasure!
This Summer I am crafting a line of undersea jewelry and I am inviting you all to participate in a creative challenge:
CREATE A PIECE OF SUNKEN TREASURE ART.
-Any medium is welcome: photography, collage, paint, felt, paper, go nuts- the world is your oyster!
-Any size is welcome: large to micro.
-You must incorporate at least 2 of the colours pictured bellow, all 4 would be great!
Email a picture of your work to email@example.com with the subject header: Sunken Treasure
Out of the submissions, I will randomly draw a winner to receive a solid antiqued-brass sand dollar necklace from my new collection…
All submissions must be in by DEADLINE: JUNE 11, 2009. If you have a blog, website or ETSY shop, make sure that you include a link along with your submission!
So much to do before the Creators’ Marketplace show this weekend!! Flowers to make, pearls to wire, table cloth to sew. Really, sometimes I wonder what I get myself into!
As promised, I will post contest info tomorrow: think “Sunken Treasure”
In the meantime feel free to browse the Curious Shop!

May is already a flurry of activity. I have been busy designing the new Curious Oddities website (it should be up by the end of the week) while creating new necklaces and juggling the tail end of my floral obligations (today being the last of the Spring/Summer holidays). All the while, battling a stubborn cold…and no, it’s not Swine Flu!
I do apologize for not writing more, I have some delightful articles in the works, but I’ve only had the morning streetcar commute in which to jot down ideas.
Oh, and I almost forgot, I have a little contest in mind for a Summer necklace giveaway, so stay tuned for the details!

Today was a delightful day. It was spent, treasure hunting with a dear friend. A good cinnamon bun, a great cup of coffee and 3 hours spent digging through boxes, poking through racks and exploring drawers… heaven.
If you are ever on Queen Street East in Toronto and have, quite literally, a day to spend, be sure to visit Gadabout Vintage! It’s fabulous, unless you are an obsessive neat freak or suffer from claustrophobia, in which case I wouldn’t recommend it.
I came home exhausted and inspired, but looking forward to a day in the studio tomorrow. Packages have been arriving almost daily, containing treasures and supplies from every corner. Each little key, gear and bulb comes to my door like a cast away little orphan, looking for a new life.
As time permits, I will be listing more items this week in my shop. There are some nice lockets, earrings and monocle necklaces, some lovely “perfect for Mum” items as well!
Cheers to Spring! I can finally leave the house without a winter coat…I’m not quite ready to ditch the scarf yet…all in due time.

Hello all, and how I’ve missed you!
For those who haven’t seen them yet, the immensely talented clock builder Eric Freitas has posted pictures of his newest mechanical marvel. Visit his blog for an incredibly detailed documentation of the creation process, including lots of delicious photos.
Unfortunately this piece isn’t for sale.
I interviewed Eric Freitas back in July, if you missed it, here is the link.
Eric, thanks again for sharing your beautiful work with us!
After much contemplation over these past long Winter months, I have decided to focus on the Curious Oddities shop and Blog.
I am applying to some craft shows here in Toronto, and there is a fabulous Circusy, vaudevillian event in the works for late Summer. Look forward to a new website, delightful new items, news, interviews and adventure. I’ll keep you posted.
